Local help

There are quit smoking support services  delivered by organizations in British Columbia that are not related to QuitNow. We have organized the local help by the five health authorities. We attempt to update the list every six months. Please email quitnow@bc.lung.ca if you discover any errors or omissions in the directory.

The Smoking Cessation Clinic is a comprehensive group program that guides clients to become smoke-free through education, behavioral support and counselling. Group session topics will include: components of treating nicotine addiction, developing personal goals and quit strategy, quit smoking without gaining weight, sleep adjustments when quitting smoking, stress management and mental health, prevent “slips” and relapse during cessation. The program is a multidisciplinary program, which runs over a period of 10 weeks that consists of four group visits and one phone follow-up led by tobacco cessation educators. Group sessions will be held Tuesday evenings at 5:30-7:30 pm. A referral is required from the physician or nurse practitioner.
Other information:
We recognize that each person has different needs, motivators and preferences. Individual assessments are completed to help determine customized quit goals, treatment plans and strategies. Clients will have access to a physician and a mental health therapist.
