Before the New Year I started working out and found that I could not do as much cardio as I would like due to shortness of breath. After my healthy workout, I would go home and light up while still in my gym clothes. I was turning 40 on January 9th and decided that my 40th year was going to be the one that I finally grew up and took control over my diet and smoking, so I joined the quit now contest.
As you know the quit date was supposed to be on January 5th and although it was only 1 day I could not wait and decided to do it cold turkey on January 4th. Within a week my cardio was beyond comprehension, I could jog, for a full 5 minutes which is a huge accomplishment and I was able to do 2 cardio classes back to back. I still had strong cravings for the first 3 weeks, but liked the feeling of accomplishment with the cardio classes and now I rarely think about smoking.
