Linda became a non-smoker because she was tired of it ruling her life for 30 years. “I was a slave to nicotine and I will never give that power away again.”
Instead of using words like “quit” or “give up”, Linda motivated herself with positive imaging – she was “becoming” a non-smoker. She also found support by registering on the QuitNow website and by reading “Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Quit Smoking”.
To Linda, becoming a non-smoker is embracing life! She now has more self esteem, has become more productive, and has control back over her life.
Linda’s advice to smokers is to “make a mental list of why you want to quit and use it like a mantra”. She believes in taking it one day at a time and rewarding yourself for all your hard work.
“Quitting was a major achievement for me. I had made myself a victim for 30 years. Quitting gave me back control of my life.”
