VANCOUVER ISLAND HEALTH REGION
14.8 per cent of people on Vancouver Island (94,520) smoke cigarettes.
10.8 per cent smoking rate (33,486) in South Vancouver Island. 15.7 per cent smoking rate (34,225) in Central Vancouver Island
24.5 per cent smoking rate (26,809) in Northern Vancouver Island
Quit Attempts
46, 635 smokers on Vancouver Island tried to quit in 2008
Over half of the smoking population (50.5 per cent) tried to quit
Up island 12,106 smokers tried to quit

VANCOUVER COASTAL HEALTH REGION
12.3 per cent of people in Vancouver Coastal (113,423) smoke cigarettes.
11.8 per cent smoking rate (17,810) in Richmond
12.6 per cent smoking rate (69,764) in Vancouver
11.7 per cent smoking rate (25,849) in North Shore/GaribaldiQuit Attempts
